SF Giants Fantasy Camp for CMT 12/28

Well,

After a workout Monday morning followed by the batting cages followed by a mountain bike ride, today Tuesday, yoga in the morning, physical therapy (hamstring issue) at noon, field work with Alexander and Will (field work meaning, lots of ground balls, fly balls and attempt to work on my pitching...well, it's a fantasy camp and I want to pitch at least one inning. If I have any left over energy, I may hit the mountain for a late afternoon ride. That's it for now....

Love,

Vasi

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Well, for those faithful followers of my blog, I had my first full two hour baseball work out last Sunday....took me two or so days to recover. Now, with that behind me, i'm gearing up for Jimmy"s (strong and fast workouts) and Tito (hamstring help, great PT) starting next week (see them from last years photos) and I have one of the head coaches at our local high school willing to work with me on baseball skills or lack thereof a few times a week. Yes, i'm still working my real job. i will do my best, with my kids help, to post some video and photos of my various workout endeavors. Hopefully, this will be my best SF Giants Fantasy Camp with a large charity contribution to CMT, the most common form of Muscular Dystrophy. Thanks for your support......Love, Vasi

Fantasy Camp

Well, we didn't post any photos nor videos of my fine Fantasy camp performance which I will do this week. However, my finals stats are as follows:

10 hits out of 21 at bats
2 walks
7 runs scored
1 triple...that's a long run and if I hadn't pulled my quad between second and third, I could have had a home run.
2 RBI's

Oh yeah, extra bonus, our team won the Fantasy Camp Championship as well. This was a first time for me which made it even more special on top of the great charity success I had.

Had a great group of guys on my team which included my baby bro Steve and neighbor and good friend, Mark Spellman. Also, big thanks to my teammates, Shasky (Campy Cy Young award winner) Brown Bros from Monterey, Boufards, Sr and Jr (Camp Silver Slugger winner), Jones, Lucas, Fletcher and Harden from making it a most memorable week...thanks guys.

Also, a very big thanks to our coaches, Jeffrey "Hac Man" Leonard and Greg "Moon Man" Minton for making it a great week in so many ways....not to mention all the pro coaches and the camp organizer Bill "Tree" Laskey for putting on another great week of camp, truly exceptional. I would be remiss on not thanking Dave "Tuna" Heaverlo for running the best Kangaroo Court. Also, all the support people starting with Kyle Heaverlo, the best. The trainers, Mark and gang, who keep us together, Dennis and the gang in the club house who make us look good...Beth, Basio, Peggy, ....the drivers.....Bench for being every where (hope your calf is better), and if I'm forgetting anyone, thanks to you too and all the campers.

Will Vangelos for being a great batboy for our team, once he arrived, we never lost...nothing like your son being with you and dressing together in the clubhouse, warming up and just hanging out.

Thanks for following.

Departure Day for Camp

Yep, it's finally arrived....pretty excited...hopefully all the training is going to make my Charcot Marie Tooth Disease charity event a big success in the search for a cure. By the way, when you're 50, you have to train a bit harder and longer then back in the day.... Just giving some of you youngsters a tip...:) Have my baseball bag almost packed....

Two beautiful maple bats ready with tap and tar on the handles with at least ten hits in them.
Giants baseball uniform, home and away.
Two baseball gloves, infield and ourfielder
Cup...just for the pain part, not having any more kids
Cleats, for my blazing speed
Red Man Chewing Tobacco, my unofficial sponsor
Sliding shorts...hope I don't have a reason to use them.

Finally, most importantly in my bag, the great wishes and support of so many kind and generous people. It's truly shocked and emotionally wowed me to see and feel such kindness. I think; Why did they do that? Why the generosity? Why the very touching and kind words? It brings tears to this old boy's eyes....

Thanks to everyone....xo Vasi
